Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 18, 2026
ScanFrame is a document scanner and PDF utility. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app handles, what stays on your device, and what may be sent to services we use to run the app.
Information we collect
ScanFrame may process or store the following information:
- Documents you create: scanned pages, imported images, generated PDFs, OCR text, document titles, folders, tags, and local app settings. These are stored locally on your device.
- Account identifier: the app may create an anonymous Firebase Authentication user ID so basic app services can work without showing a sign-in screen.
- Contact requests: if you use Contact Us, we collect the title, description, reply email, anonymous user ID, app/device locale, country code if available from locale, time zone, platform, and timestamps so we can respond and diagnose the request.
- Purchases: subscription and lifetime purchase status may be handled by the app stores and RevenueCat. We do not receive your full payment card details.
- Diagnostics and analytics: the app may collect crash reports, error reports, app lifecycle events, feature usage events, masked session replay data, device/app version data, and similar diagnostic information through Firebase Crashlytics and PostHog. Session replay is used to debug app navigation and UI issues; document images and text are masked.
Permissions
ScanFrame may ask for device permissions when needed:
- Camera: to scan documents, take photos, and scan QR/barcodes.
- Photos or files: to import images or PDFs that you choose.
- Biometrics/device credential: to protect local app access if you enable app lock.
- Calendar or alarms: only if you choose reminder features.
How we use information
We use information to:
- create, edit, display, search, export, and back up documents locally;
- keep basic user metadata and support requests connected to an authenticated app user;
- process premium access and restore purchases;
- understand crashes, performance issues, and feature usage;
- reply to support/contact requests.
What stays local
Your document files, generated PDFs, scans, thumbnails, OCR text, local folders, and backups are kept on your device unless you explicitly export, share, or move them using device or cloud services outside ScanFrame.
Third-party services
ScanFrame may use these providers:
- Firebase Authentication for anonymous app identity.
- Cloud Firestore for lightweight profile metadata and contact requests.
- Firebase Crashlytics for crash and error diagnostics.
- PostHog for product analytics, masked session replay, and error tracking.
- RevenueCat for purchase entitlement management.
- Apple App Store and Google Play for payment processing.
- Google ML Kit / Apple VisionKit or Vision for scanning or OCR features where available.
Data sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with service providers needed to operate the app, respond to support requests, process purchases, diagnose issues, or comply with legal obligations.
Data retention
Local documents remain on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app. Contact requests and diagnostic records may be retained as long as needed for support, security, debugging, and legal compliance.
Your choices
- You can delete local documents inside the app.
- You can export or back up documents using the app features.
- You can disable app permissions in your device settings.
- You can request deletion of support/contact records by contacting us.
Children's privacy
ScanFrame is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the app changes. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
